About Heikou.

Hi! I'm Heidi. I'm an abstract artist from Austria working with textiles and paper. Sewing and drawing, as well as combining both, have been my focus over the past years.

I've always been creative. Since 2005 I've been intensively involved with art and creative expression. From 2008-2010 I studied Painting and Process oriented Art Forms at the Vienna School of Art, Austria. There I discovered my artistic core, which is still reflected in my work today.

Nature, biology, even physics and the working material itself are my greatest source of inspiration. Here, I draw from abundance.

An experimental approach and intuitive process while creating is vital for me. Abstract forms offer the opportunity and freedom to express things beyond visible reality.

My search for inner balance and equilibrium is reflected not only in the images but also in my way of working. Most of the time, things emerge from the center or orient themselves towards it.

Appropriately, my artist name "heikou," which is derived from my first and last name, also has a Japanese meaning, which I discovered later – "balance" or, in a figurative sense, the "balance of forces" (平行). What a coincidence!

My works are an invitation to find inner peace and to feel connected to nature and ones own center.
